# The StatusCake alternative that counts every check the same way

StatusCake has run a free tier for over a decade and their paid plans are competitively priced. The friction most people hit is the counting: uptime tests, page speed tests, SSL tests, domain tests and server tests are separate allowances, so a site you want fully covered consumes four different budgets. We count a monitor as a monitor, whatever it checks.

## Where StatusCake is better than us

- A larger probe network than ours, built up over many years.
- A page speed test on the free plan — load time, page size and a per-request waterfall — where our page performance sits on a paid tier.
- Longer track record and a large installed base.

## Choose StatusCake if

- You want load-time and waterfall testing without paying anything.
- Your monitoring is a handful of HTTP checks and you value a long operating history.
- You need a probe in a location our 20 do not cover.

## Choose WatchFor if

- You do not want SSL, domain and uptime checks drawn from three separate allowances.
- You need teammates on the plan — their free tier includes none.
- You want CDN, MCP, MTR, NTP, blacklist or email-policy checks.
- You want the API, SDKs and an MCP server on every plan.

## Moving over

Monitors → Import connects to StatusCake with your API key and brings uptime, SSL and domain tests over one-to-one onto our HTTP, SSL and domain expiry monitors, with a preview first. Server agent checks have no equivalent — we monitor from the outside only.

## Questions people ask

What does 'separate allowances' actually mean? On StatusCake a plan grants, say, 100 uptime tests, 50 SSL tests and 50 domain tests as distinct pools. Covering 100 sites for uptime, certificate and domain expiry needs all three pools to be large enough. With us those are three monitors out of one number.

Does StatusCake have anything we do not? Yes — a page speed test on the free plan, and a bigger probe network. Worth knowing what their test is before you weigh it: a WebKit browser records load time, page size, the number of requests and a waterfall of every resource. It is not a Lighthouse audit and does not report Core Web Vitals. Ours does report those, and starts on a paid tier. If a free waterfall or a probe in a location we lack is decisive, they are the better buy.

Can I bring my team? Their free tier has no team seats and Superior includes one. Every plan of ours includes teammates with no per-seat charge.

## About these figures

Everything stated here about StatusCake was read from [their published pricing](https://www.statuscake.com/pricing/) on 11 September 2026 . Pricing, limits and features in this market change often and without notice, so treat this as a starting point and confirm the current terms with both vendors before you buy. We are not affiliated with StatusCake , and product names belong to their owners.

Agent-readiness scores are published by [ora.ai](https://ora.ai) and [is-agentic.com](https://is-agentic.com) for the domain named under each score, as of the date shown. They grade a domain, not a product: a vendor whose developer surface lives on a subdomain can score lower than its product deserves. We show each service's own cached result and never request a scan of another company's site, so a domain neither service has scanned reads as not scanned. Scoring rules change over time; compare the dates as well as the numbers.
