(no credit card), and paid plans cost significantly less than legacy
competitors. **Team members are included on every plan — no per-seat fees.**

All prices are generated from live billing data. Paid plans are billed monthly
or yearly (yearly is cheaper); taxes may apply at checkout. Currency is shown

Keyword/content matching, response-time thresholds and status-code rules are
alert rules available on the relevant types rather than separate monitors.

## Limits & overage policy

- **No overage charges, no usage billing.** Every plan is a flat monthly or
  yearly price. Nothing on this page is metered onto your invoice.
- **Caps are enforced when you create or save something.** You can't add a
  monitor, status page, contact, host or browser check beyond the plan's cap;
  the app says which limit you hit. Existing resources keep running. Raise the
  cap by upgrading.
- **Checks are unlimited.** The plan's fastest interval (and each type's own
  minimum) controls how often a monitor runs, not a check quota.
- **Browser check runs are a monthly budget, checked at save time.** When you
  save a browser check, its interval and locations are converted into runs
  per month; all your checks together must fit the plan's budget (the table
  above). The automatic retry and the confirmation re-run before an alert are
  not counted.
- **Per-type caps sit inside the monitor cap.** "Up to N" in the monitor-type
  table means that many of that type, counted within the plan's total.
- **Rate limits:** REST API and MCP tool calls share the plan's requests per
  minute. Over the limit you get HTTP `429` with a `Retry-After` header, and
  every response carries `X-RateLimit-*` / IETF `RateLimit-*` headers.

- **On-demand work has hourly allowances:** "Run now" re-checks per monitor,
  browser-check test runs, and free-tool / live-diagnostic runs (one hourly
  allowance per tool, shared by the dashboard Toolbox and the API).
- **Alerts are never capped:** notifications to every channel are included on
  every plan.

## What's included on every plan

- **A catalog of 30 monitor types:** HTTP/HTTPS, API (multi-step + JSON
  assertions), SSL certificate, DNS, TCP, UDP, ping/ICMP, MTR/traceroute,
  SMTP, IMAP, POP3, email round-trip & email deliverability, blacklist/RBL,
  RDAP/domain expiry, keyword,
  port, Core Web Vitals (browser), heartbeat/cron, MCP server monitoring, page
  integrity (defacement and script tampering), Playwright browser checks, and
  more. Which types a plan includes is in the "Monitor types by plan" table —
  every type counts as one regular monitor, never as an add-on.
- **Multi-region confirmed alerting** — a failure is only declared **Down**
  once confirmed from several locations, so alerts reflect real outages, not
  one bad network path (a single failed check shows as **Degraded**).
- **16 notification channels** (listed below).
- **Public status pages** on your own subdomain, incident management, scheduled
  maintenance windows and an audit/activity log.
- **Automation surfaces:** REST API (/api/v1, 89 operations), MCP server
  (63 tools), A2A agent (19 skills), and official SDKs for TypeScript, Python
  and Ruby. Authenticate with an API key or OAuth 2.1.
- **Live diagnostics:** 26 checks an agent or script can run on demand from
  the probe fleet against any public target, monitored or not — DNS,
  propagation, whois, ping, traceroute, ports, blacklists, SSL, TLS grade,
  HTTP headers and more. They spend the same per-plan hourly allowance as the
  dashboard Toolbox. The one-call multi-region bundle (`diagnose-target`)
  needs a plan with the probe-location picker.

- **Pro** — startups and SaaS teams wanting parallel multi-location checks,
  Core Web Vitals, on-call scheduling and more locations.
- **Business** — agencies and larger teams at scale, with the highest limits
  and 30-second checks.

## Billing & payment

- **Payment processing:** Stripe hosted checkout — cards and the local
  payment methods Stripe offers at checkout. WatchFor never sees or stores
  card numbers.
- **Billing cadence:** monthly or yearly per plan; the yearly price is
  discounted versus 12 monthly payments (exact figures per plan above).
- **Currency & tax:** prices come from the live billing catalog and are shown
  in the plan's currency, excluding VAT. VAT is added at checkout for the billing country (EU businesses with a valid VAT number are reverse-charged).
- **Plan changes:** self-serve in the dashboard under Billing. Upgrades take
  effect immediately and you pay only the prorated difference for the rest
  of the period. Downgrades (and yearly → monthly) take effect at the end of
  the paid period; anything over the new plan's limits is paused, not
  deleted, and you pick what stays active.
- **Failed payments:** the plan stays active for 7 days while the payment is
  retried; after that the organization runs on Free limits until the invoice is
  paid (over-limit resources are paused, not deleted).
- **Cancellation:** self-serve, no sales call and no cancellation email.
- **Invoices & receipts:** available in the dashboard (Billing → Stripe
  customer portal).
- **Free plan is free forever** — it is not a trial and does not expire. One
  free organization per user; additional organizations need their own paid plan.
- **Team members are included on every plan** — the member cap is a plan
  limit, never a per-seat price.

## Definitions (what the limits count)

- **Monitor** — one checked target: a URL, hostname, IP/port, certificate,
  heartbeat slug, MCP endpoint or browser-check script. The per-tier monitor
  cap counts these.
- **Check** — a single probe execution from one location. Checks are
  unlimited on every tier; the interval floor controls how often they run.
- **Check history** — how long every individual check result (timings,
  status code, response body, error) stays readable in the dashboard and the
  API. Older checks are out of reach on that plan.
- **Charts & reports history** — how far back response-time, check-success,
  latency and p95 charts and the check-based parts of reports go.
- **Uptime & incident history** — uptime %, SLA reports and every incident
  with its timeline; kept on every plan with no time limit.
- **Browser check run** — one scheduled execution of a Playwright script from
  one location; counted against the monthly runs budget.
- **Location / region** — the probe location(s) a monitor runs from. The
  regions cap limits how many distinct regions your monitors can use.
- **Parallel strategy** — a monitor checked from all its locations at once
  instead of one location per check (round robin or random, both on every
  plan).
- **Host** — a server running the open-source watchfor-agent that pushes
  system metrics.
- **Alert rule** — a condition on a monitor's metrics (e.g.
  `ssl.days_until_expiry < 14`). Not capped separately per tier.
- **Incident** — created when an alert rule's failure is confirmed from
  multiple locations; carries the rule, duration and timeline.
- **Maintenance window** — a scheduled period during which alerts are
  suppressed and uptime is not counted; checks keep running.
- **Contact / contact group** — a person (or channel endpoint) and a named
  set of them that notifications route to.
- **Status page** — a public page on your own subdomain showing live
  status, uptime history and incident updates.
- **On-call schedule** — a rotation that decides who gets paged first and
  how escalation proceeds.

## Pricing FAQ

**Is the free plan really free?**
Yes — no credit card, no trial clock. Limits are in the tables above; every
notification channel is available on it, and the "Monitor types by plan"
table says which of the 30 types it includes.

**Do team members cost extra?**
No. Every plan includes team members with no per-seat fees — the member cap
per plan is in the comparison table.

**What counts as a monitor?**
One checked target (one URL, hostname, port, certificate, heartbeat, MCP
endpoint or browser-check script). Alert rules, locations and notification
channels attached to it do not consume additional monitor slots.

**What happens if I exceed a limit?**
Nothing is billed. You can't create more of that resource until you upgrade
or remove something; what already exists keeps running. After a downgrade,
anything over the new plan's limits is paused (not deleted) and you choose
what stays active.

**Are there overage fees?**
No. Prices are flat per plan; checks and notifications are not metered.

**How does the browser-check runs budget work?**
Each saved browser check uses interval × locations runs per month; together
they must fit your plan's monthly budget. Retries and alert-confirmation
re-runs are free.

**How much do I save with yearly billing?**
The per-plan sections above show the yearly price, what it works out to per
month, and the percentage saved versus paying monthly.

**Can I switch plans later?**
Yes — self-serve in the dashboard under Billing at any time. An upgrade
starts immediately and you pay the prorated difference; a downgrade starts at
the end of the period you already paid for, and anything over the new limits
is paused, not deleted.

**Do maintenance windows count against uptime?**
No — scheduled maintenance suppresses alerts and is excluded from uptime
and SLA calculations while checks keep running.

**Is API / MCP / A2A access a paid add-on?**
No — every plan, including Free, gets the REST API, the MCP server, the A2A
agent and the official SDKs. Tool calls share your plan's API rate limit.

**What happens when I hit the API rate limit?**
The request gets HTTP `429` with `Retry-After`; wait that many seconds
and retry. Limits per plan are in the tables above.

**Is there an Enterprise tier?**
Yes — custom limits, invoicing and terms via the Enterprise contact option
on https://watchfor.io/pricing.

**How long is my monitoring data kept?**
Uptime, SLA and incident history are kept on every plan with no time limit.
Individual check results, the charts and reports built from them, and
screenshots, traces and Lighthouse reports are kept for the plan's history
window in the tables above. Upgrading lengthens the window for data that has

**Where is my data?**
WatchFor is EU-based (Kaunas, Lithuania) and operates under European law;
GDPR applies.

- **Confirmed alerting model:** a monitor is only **Down** after several

  figures exclude scheduled maintenance windows.
