# Opsgenie alerts with a priority that means something

Opsgenie decides who to wake by priority, so the integration is only as good as the priority it sets. Critical incidents arrive as P1 and warnings as P2, keyed so a recovery closes the same alert — and, because alerts fire on confirmed incidents rather than single failed checks, a P1 here means several probe locations agreed.

## Setting it up

API integration key .

- 1 In Opsgenie, add an API integration to the team that should own these alerts and copy its key.
- 2 Paste it into Alerting → Channels & contacts → Add Channel → Opsgenie, and pick the US or EU region.
- 3 Attach contact groups and send a test.

Does the alert close by itself? Yes. Recovery sends a close for the same alias, so the alert does not sit open after the problem is gone.
