# AI Agent drafts your post-mortems; post-mortems in the API and MCP

The agent could explain an incident, but the post-mortem still had to be typed by hand. Ask it to write the post-mortem and it drafts every empty section from the incident's timeline, root cause and duration, marks what it can't know instead of guessing, and suggests action items — you approve or edit the card before anything is saved. The same works from code: GET and PATCH /api/v1/incidents/{id}/postmortem, MCP tools get_postmortem and update_postmortem, and SDKs 0.17.0.
