# API: see whether an open incident is still failing or recovering, and a real 24-hour response chart

Through the API you could see that a monitor had an open incident, but not whether the rule behind it was still failing or the site was already recovering — so an app could only guess. GET /v1/monitors/{id} now carries alerting_state, straight from the alerting engine: still failing, recovering 1 of 3 healthy checks, or a rule confirming 2 of 3 before it alerts. And GET /v1/monitors/{id}/uptime?series=true returns response times on a real time axis, so a chart covers exactly the period it says.
