# Free tools: SRV and DMARC lookups, clearer SSL errors and honest ping results

Some free tools refused valid input or showed a misleading result. DNS lookups now accept underscore names such as _dmarc and SRV records. The SSL checker shows why a certificate was rejected, for example a name mismatch, instead of "expired". Short HSTS lifetimes show in seconds, silent traceroute hops say "no reply", and asking ping for more packets no longer reports false loss.
