# Saving monitor settings no longer changes the timeout

If you never set a timeout, any save on a monitor's Settings tab quietly stored 30 seconds — a DNS check that gives up after 5 seconds waited 30, and multi-page checks lost half their time. The field now stays empty until you fill it in, shows the default that actually applies, and a save keeps it that way.
