# A calmer dashboard that says what is wrong, for monitors and hosts alike

The dashboard used to open with a wall of tiles and a date picker. It now opens with one sentence — the worst thing open right now, in its colour — and three quiet numbers beside it: how much of what you watch is fine, your monitors and your hosts, with only the trouble counts coloured. Hover the health number to see exactly how it is computed from your own figures. Incidents per day are stacked by severity in the same colours, the noisiest monitors and hosts are listed together, and a slim notice appears only while a monitor has no notification route. Everything covers the last 30 days.

The worst open problem first, three quiet numbers, then the last 30 days.

## The problem

The old dashboard opened with a row of equally loud tiles and a date picker. On a bad morning you had to read all of them to find the one that mattered.

## What you see first

- One headline : the worst thing open right now, in its colour. "1 critical incident" in red, "1 warning incident" in amber, or "All clear" in green with how long it has been clean.

- Three quiet numbers beside it: Healthy (the share of everything you watch that is fine, monitors and hosts together), Monitors and Hosts . Only trouble gets colour: "1 degraded" turns amber, "all online" stays plain.

- The sum behind Healthy. Hover the number and it shows the calculation with your own figures, for example "47 healthy / 48 counted = 98%", split into monitors up and hosts online.

## Below the headline

- Incident frequency : incidents per day for the last 30 days, stacked by severity in the same red and amber, with a 7-day average line.

- Unstable monitors & hosts : the ones with the most incidents, servers and monitors in one list.

- A slim notice , only while some monitor has no notification route, so its incidents would reach nobody.

## Example

You open the dashboard after a weekend. It says "All clear · clean for 3 days", Healthy reads 100%, and you're done in two seconds. On a Monday when a disk filled up, the same spot reads "1 critical incident" in red, and clicking it takes you to the open incidents.

The same figures are available to scripts and agents through [GET /v1/summary](/docs/api/summary).
