# The public address a cloud assigned to a host

On a cloud instance the elastic IPv4 never appears on the machine itself (the provider NATs it), so the host page could show a public address only as the one its batches arrived from, and never the IPv6. The agent (0.8.0) now asks the cloud's metadata service for the addresses it assigned from the outside, IPv4 and IPv6, on AWS, Google Cloud, Azure, Alibaba, Tencent, Scaleway, DigitalOcean, Hetzner, Vultr, Linode and OpenStack. They show in the host's address table as "public · cloud" and are searchable in the hosts list. Only real public addresses get through.
