# One screen on the server for the whole agent

Checking what the agent was doing meant reading agent.yml, tailing the journal and running commands. Run watchfor-agent with no command now and it opens one screen: live CPU, memory, disks, network and busiest processes, the batch the next push carries, every setting editable in place, the service with its log, and updates. Arrow keys move, Enter chooses. A health check tests files, permissions, service, timer and the way out to WatchFor and repairs what it safely can (also as watchfor-agent health).

Live readings straight from the collectors, refreshed every two seconds.

The health check says what is wrong and offers to repair what is safe to repair.

## Why

To answer "is the agent OK on this box?" you had to open agent.yml , tail the journal and remember a few commands. Now one screen holds all of it.

## What's on it

Run watchfor-agent with no command (as root with sudo if you want to change things). The menu has three groups:

- Overview : the machine and agent, a Live view of CPU, memory, disks, network and the busiest processes refreshed every two seconds, and The batch , the exact samples the next push will carry.

- Settings : server and token, host name and tags, how often it sends, which disks, interfaces and processes to watch, logging, updates. Each one is edited in place and saved when you confirm. A running agent picks the change up within half a minute.

- Maintenance : update, health check, the service with its log, and reinstall or reset. Anything that replaces a file or stops the agent asks first.

Arrow keys move, Enter opens, Esc goes back, q quits.

## Example

Disk alerts look wrong on db-1. You run sudo watchfor-agent , open Disks and see the agent watches a backup mount you don't care about. You untick it, confirm, and the next batch leaves it out. No YAML to edit and nothing to restart by hand.

## Health check

It checks files and permissions, the service and its timer, and whether the server can reach WatchFor, then repairs what is safe to repair. Scripts get the same checks with watchfor-agent health .

The screen comes with agent 0.7.0 and newer. See [The agent's screen](/docs/hosts#the-agents-screen) and [Health check](/docs/hosts#health-check).
