# Warning and critical levels can be switched on separately

Presets with two levels — response time, Core Web Vitals, and the new server rules for CPU, memory, disk, load, I/O wait, steal, swap and inodes — used to come as an all-or-nothing pair. Each level now has its own switch next to its slider: keep only the critical page, keep only a warning heads-up for Slack, or both. A level you switch off stays visible, dimmed, with its threshold remembered.

Each level has its own switch next to its slider.

## What changed

A preset with two levels used to be all or nothing: you got both the warning and the critical alert, or neither. Now each level has its own switch next to its slider.

- Only critical: you want to be paged when the disk is at 90%, and you don't need to hear about 80%.

- Only warning: a heads-up in Slack when response time creeps up, without ever paging anyone.

- Both: the warning gives you time to act, the critical tells you time is up.

A level you switch off stays on the screen, dimmed, with its threshold kept, so switching it back on restores what you had.

## Where it applies

Response time, Core Web Vitals, and the server rules for CPU, memory, disk, load, I/O wait, CPU steal, swap and inodes.

## How to use it

Open the monitor's or host's Alerting tab, expand the rule and use the switch beside Warning Threshold or Critical Threshold . See [alert rules](/docs/alerting#presets-not-blank-pages) and the [host rules](/docs/hosts#alerting).
