# 27 new free tools, from MX lookup to an SMTP tester

Searching for "MX lookup" or "HSTS checker" used to land you on a general DNS or headers tool where you had to pick the right option yourself. Every common question now has its own page: per-record DNS lookups (A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, NS, TXT, SOA, SRV, CAA, reverse DNS), SSL expiry, TLS versions, security headers, HSTS, HTTP status, domain expiry, sitemap validation, gzip, and crontab, epoch, CIDR and SLA calculators. Five tools are new: SMTP test, NTP test, WebSocket tester, a redirect checker that follows every hop, and IP lookup. Agents get the probe-backed ones as live diagnostics too.

## Five new tools

- [SMTP test](/smtp-test) opens a real session on port 25, 465 or 587 and shows the banner, whether STARTTLS is offered, whether reverse DNS matches, and whether the server relays mail for strangers. No message is sent.

- [NTP test](/ntp-test) asks a time server for its stratum, clock offset and delay for each sample.

- [WebSocket tester](/websocket-tester) measures the handshake, does a ping/pong round-trip and can send a message and check the reply.

- [Redirect checker](/redirect-checker) follows every hop with its status code, Location and timing, and flags loops, temporary redirects and any step down from https to http.

- [IP lookup](/ip-lookup) shows an address's network, ASN, registry country and reverse DNS from public routing data, without connecting to it.

## An example

Your newsletter keeps landing in spam. The SMTP test connects to mail.example.com on port 587 and shows that STARTTLS is offered and relaying is refused, but reverse DNS does not match the address, something many receiving servers count against you.
