# Clearer rules for the free tools

The free tools had no terms of their own, which left both sides guessing. The Terms now say plainly what they are for — systems you own or are authorised to test — and what they must not be used for, including scanning other people's systems, hunting vulnerabilities, or routing traffic through our probes to hide where it came from. The Privacy Policy now sets out exactly what is kept when you run a tool, for how long, and what is never kept: credentials are stripped before anything is written and request bodies are never stored.
