# Incidents show up in your bell and Inbox

If you are in the dashboard when something goes down, you should not have to hear about it from Slack. When a confirmed incident opens, is acknowledged or resolves, every member of the organization now gets it in the dashboard bell and Inbox: Down or Degraded in red or amber, Resolved with how long it took, each linking to the incident page. No channel setup needed; silenced, inhibited and flapping incidents stay quiet here as well, and anyone can switch incident notifications off under Settings → Notifications.

Every confirmed incident lands in the Inbox, one click from the incident page.

## Why

If you have the dashboard open when something breaks, the dashboard should be the first to tell you. Until now incidents reached you only through the channels you had set up.

## What arrives

- Down: monitor name when a confirmed incident opens, with the rule that fired and the monitor's target.

- Acknowledged: monitor name when someone takes it.

- Resolved: monitor name with how long it lasted.

Every member of the organization gets them, with no channel to configure, and each one links to the incident page. Silenced, inhibited and flapping incidents stay quiet here, just as they do on your channels.

## Example

At 06:09 your Public API monitor starts getting HTTP 403. As soon as the failure is confirmed, the bell in everyone's dashboard shows Down: Public API . Clicking it opens the message in the Inbox, and Open takes you to the incident with its root cause and timeline. A few minutes later Resolved: Public API · Recovered after 4m follows.

## Turning it off

Incident notifications are a per-person choice. Switch them off under Settings → Inbox preferences ; it changes nothing for your teammates or for your alert channels. More in [In your bell and Inbox](/docs/alerting/incidents#in-your-bell-and-inbox).

Since then: warning incidents carry an amber Degraded badge, and resolutions say how the incident ended ([Inbox wording](/changelog/2026-09-06-inbox-incident-wording)).
