# Inbox redesigned: read the whole message, open what it's about, tune what you get

Reading a notification used to mean squinting at a truncated line, and clicking it in the bell only marked it read. The Inbox now shows the list on the left and the full message on the right, with Unread and category filters, search, keyboard shortcuts (j/k, Enter, u, e) and a shareable link per notification. Clicking a notification in the bell opens it in the Inbox, with an Open button that leads to what it is about (a changelog entry today, incidents next), and the bell no longer overflows its panel. Each member picks which kinds of notifications they get under Settings → Notifications.

## What changed

- List and message side by side. The list on the left, the full text on the right, so nothing is cut off.

- Filters and search. Unread or one category at a time, plus search over titles and text.

- Keyboard. j and k move through the list, Enter opens what a notification is about, u toggles read, e dismisses.

- A link for every notification , so you can paste one to a teammate.

- The bell opens the Inbox. Clicking a notification in the bell opens it in full, with an Open button that leads to the changelog entry or incident it is about.

- Your own preferences. Under Settings → Inbox preferences each member chooses which kinds land in their bell and Inbox: incidents, maintenance windows, reports, what's new and system messages. A switch also applies to notifications posted earlier.

Marking something read or clearing your inbox only changes your own view, never what your teammates see.

## Example

You come back from lunch to a dozen unread notifications. Open the Inbox, choose Unread , and step through them with j . A changelog entry looks useful, so Enter opens it. The maintenance reminders are not for you: switch off Maintenance windows in your preferences and they leave your list without touching anyone else's.
