# MCP server adds reference resources and prompt templates

Tools alone leave an agent guessing which monitor types exist or what a good diagnosis prompt looks like. Agents connected over MCP can now pull reference material straight through the protocol (the monitor-type catalog, the OpenAPI spec and the agent quickstart) and start from ready-made prompt templates: diagnose what is broken, set up a monitor, or generate a reliability report. Discovering resources and prompts works without a key, like the tool list. The WatchFor MCP server is now also listed on the Smithery registry.
