# API sandbox without a key, and a batch endpoint

Trying the API meant creating an account and a key just to see what a response looks like. The read-only sandbox at watchfor.io/api/v1/sandbox now serves sample data in the exact production shapes — summary, monitors, incidents, locations, monitor types, a full report — with no authentication, every payload marked as sandbox data. For real accounts, POST /api/v1/batch runs up to 20 operations in one request, each with its own result.

## The sandbox

Open https://watchfor.io/api/v1/sandbox in a browser or point curl at it. No account, no key:

curl https://watchfor.io/api/v1/sandbox/summary

You get back the same shape a real account returns, marked "sandbox": true . Sample data is there for the summary, monitors, incidents, locations, monitor types and a full report. It's read-only and rate-limited per IP. Use it to build a parser, wire up a dashboard prototype, or let an AI agent learn the response shapes before anyone creates a key.

## Batch

POST /api/v1/batch takes up to 20 operations in one request and returns their results in the same order. Each operation runs with your key's permissions and counts as one request against your rate limit. One failing operation doesn't stop the others.

## An example

A status widget on your intranet needs the summary, the monitors that are down and the open incidents. Instead of three round trips on every refresh, it sends one batch:

{ "operations": [
{ "method": "GET", "path": "/summary" },
{ "method": "GET", "path": "/monitors?status=down&limit=5" },
{ "method": "GET", "path": "/incidents?status=firing" }
] }

See [Sandbox](/docs/api/sandbox) and [Batch](/docs/api/meta#batch).
