# Redesigned contacts & contact groups, with CSV import

Managing contacts across separate dialogs made a simple change, like adding someone to a group, take longer than it should. Contacts and contact groups now share a side-by-side organization: pick a person or group on the left and edit everything (details, group memberships, escalation policy) in one place on the right, with explicit Save and Cancel. You can import contacts from a CSV file (duplicates are skipped safely), select many at once to delete in bulk, and the list stays alphabetical however large it grows.

Pick a person on the left, edit everything about them on the right.

## One place for a person

Alerting → Channels & contacts → Contacts & groups now works like a mail client. The list is on the left, alphabetical and searchable by name, email or phone. Pick a contact and the right side shows everything about them: name, email, phone, and a tick list of the groups they belong to.

Nothing is saved until you press Save changes . An amber Unsaved changes badge appears as soon as your edit differs from what's stored, and Cancel puts it back.

Contact groups use the same layout. Name, description and escalation policy are at the top; below, current members are pinned first and everyone else sits under Not in group .

## Import from a CSV file

Click Import and pick a file with name , email and optional phone columns. Rows with a bad email are skipped with a warning, and addresses you already have are skipped as duplicates, so importing an updated list again is safe. A file can hold up to 1,000 rows.

## An example

A new client hands you a list of 40 people who should get outage emails. You import the CSV, create a Client ops group, search its member list for @client.example , click Select all and save. That takes a couple of minutes. When the contract ends, the same search in the contact list, Select all and Delete removes them in one confirmed step.

See [Contacts & contact groups](/docs/notifications/contact-groups).
