# Embeddable status badge

Your users rarely visit a status page unprompted — they are on your docs, your README or your app. You can now show your live status right there with a copy-paste badge: a small pill that reads "All systems operational" (or degraded / outage / maintenance), links back to your status page and updates on its own. Grab it in a dark or light theme from your status page's new "Status badge" settings. Every public status page also serves its status as CORS-enabled JSON for custom widgets and integrations.

Pick a theme, check the preview, copy the snippet.

## What it shows

A small pill with a coloured dot and one line of text: All systems operational , Some systems degraded , Major outage or Scheduled maintenance . It is the same overall status as your status page, it links to that page, and it refreshes about once a minute on its own.

## An example

You paste the badge into the footer of your docs. Your API has an incident and the status page turns amber. A minute later every docs page says Some systems degraded , and a reader who clicks it lands on the incident notice instead of opening a support ticket.

## How to add it

- Open Status pages , pick your page and scroll to the Status badge card.

- Pick a theme: auto (follows each visitor's light or dark setting), dark or light.

- Check the preview, click Copy and paste the snippet into your site, app or README.

## Build your own widget

The same card gives you the page's status.json address. It returns the overall status, every component's status and any open incident or maintenance. It needs no API key and allows requests from any origin, so a browser can fetch it directly for a custom banner.

The badge and the JSON exist only for public pages. A private or password-protected page serves neither. Details in [Status badge & embed](/docs/status-pages/embed).
