# Microsoft Teams alert notifications

If your team lives in Microsoft Teams, an alert that lands in email first is an alert that gets seen late. Alerts can now post straight into a Teams channel as severity-colored Adaptive Cards with diagnosis, expected vs detected values, confirming locations and a View-incident button. Setup uses the modern Teams Workflows webhook (the path Microsoft replaced classic connectors with): create the workflow from the channel's ⋯ menu, paste the URL, done.

Create a Workflow in the Teams channel and paste its URL.

## Set it up

- In Teams, open the channel that should get alerts, click ⋯ next to its name and choose Workflows .

- Pick the template Post to a channel when a webhook request is received , add it, and copy the URL Teams shows at the end.

- In WatchFor, go to Alerting → Channels & contacts → New channel → Microsoft Teams , paste it as the Workflow Webhook URL and attach the contact groups it should serve.

- Click Send test . A test card appears in the channel.

URLs from the old Office 365 Incoming Webhook connector also work for as long as Microsoft keeps them running. New setups should use Workflows.

## What a card shows

The card is coloured by severity and starts with a line like DOWN: API (prod) . It lists the diagnosis, expected and detected values, the target, when it started and which locations confirmed it, with a button that opens the incident.

## Example

Your ops team works in a Teams channel called ops-alerts . When the API starts timing out, a red card lands there with the measured response time, the limit it broke and the locations that confirmed it. Whoever is closest clicks the button to open the incident, and the recovery card follows when it clears.

## If the test fails

A 4xx error usually means the workflow was deleted or turned off, or the person who created it left the organization. Workflows run under their creator's account, so create it again and update the URL.
