# Import your monitors from StatusCake

Switching from StatusCake should not mean starting your monitor list from zero. Connect with your StatusCake API key and your uptime checks come over in one go — HTTP with keyword and custom-header rules, ping, TCP ports, SMTP and DNS, including paused state. Imported monitors are tagged statuscake, intervals adjust to your plan automatically, and you pick exactly which monitors to create before anything is added.

## Where to find the credentials

In StatusCake, open the account menu, go to My Account → API Keys and copy a key. Generate one if the list is empty.

## How the import works

- Open Monitors → Import and pick the tool you are leaving.

- Paste the credentials. The dialog shows where to find them in that tool.

- Review the preview. Each monitor shows its WatchFor type, target and interval, with a note when something needs a second look, such as an interval raised to your plan's minimum or a rule that could not be carried over. Monitors that cannot be imported are listed with the reason.

- Untick what you don't want, choose which notification group gets the alerts, and import.

Imported monitors get a tag with the tool's name, so you can filter the whole batch later. Owners and admins can import.

## What to check afterwards

StatusCake lists the status codes that count as down , and WatchFor lists the ones that count as up , so custom status-code rules are not copied. The preview says so on each monitor where it applies. SSH checks come over as TCP port checks, and DNS checks keep their resolver and expected addresses.

The full flow, with screenshots, is in the [UptimeRobot import entry](/changelog/2026-07-23-uptimerobot-import). The [monitors guide](/docs/monitors#creating-a-monitor) covers import and the other ways to create monitors.
