# Import your monitors from Pingdom (beta)

Years of Pingdom checks are not something you want to re-enter one form at a time. Connect with a read-only Pingdom API token and your checks come over: HTTP with keywords, custom headers and auth, ping, TCP and UDP port checks with send/expect strings, SMTP and DNS. Imported monitors are tagged so you can find the whole batch with one filter and tidy up at your own pace.

## Where to find the credentials

In Pingdom, go to Settings → Pingdom API , click Add API token , choose Read access and copy the token. A read-only token is enough.

## How the import works

- Open Monitors → Import and pick the tool you are leaving.

- Paste the credentials. The dialog shows where to find them in that tool.

- Review the preview. Each monitor shows its WatchFor type, target and interval, with a note when something needs a second look, such as an interval raised to your plan's minimum or a rule that could not be carried over. Monitors that cannot be imported are listed with the reason.

- Untick what you don't want, choose which notification group gets the alerts, and import.

Imported monitors get a tag with the tool's name, so you can filter the whole batch later. Owners and admins can import.

## What to check afterwards

Send and expect strings on TCP and UDP checks come over as they are; check them in the monitor's settings. POP3 and IMAP mailbox checks are listed as not imported, with the reason.
