# One-click import from UptimeRobot

Recreating every monitor by hand is the main reason people put off switching. If you are moving from UptimeRobot, paste a read-only API key and bring your monitors over in minutes: checks, intervals, custom status codes, auth, headers and keyword rules included. A preview lets you pick exactly what to import.

Pick the tool you are moving from.

The dialog shows where to find the key.

## What comes over

- HTTP(S) monitors with method, request body, custom headers, basic or digest auth, timeout and the status codes you accept.

- Keyword monitors as HTTP monitors with the keyword rule set up, in the same direction (alert when the word is missing, or when it appears).

- Ping and port monitors as ping and TCP checks.

- Paused monitors stay paused, and intervals are kept where your plan allows them.

## How the import works

- Open Monitors → Import and pick the tool you are leaving.

- Paste the credentials. The dialog shows where to find them in that tool.

- Review the preview. Each monitor shows its WatchFor type, target and interval, with a note when something needs a second look, such as an interval raised to your plan's minimum or a rule that could not be carried over. Monitors that cannot be imported are listed with the reason.

- Untick what you don't want, choose which notification group gets the alerts, and import.

Imported monitors get a tag with the tool's name, so you can filter the whole batch later. Owners and admins can import.

## Example

You have 40 monitors in UptimeRobot. You paste a read-only key, and the preview lists 38 ready to import and 2 heartbeat monitors that can't be imported, each with the reason. You untick an old staging site, pick the On-call group and import 37 monitors. Filtering by the uptimerobot tag shows the batch, so you can run both tools side by side for a week before you switch the old one off.

The [monitors guide](/docs/monitors#creating-a-monitor) covers import and the other ways to create monitors.
