# Status pages now live on their own address

A status page is only useful if the link is short enough to remember under pressure. Every public status page now gets its own address, yourname.watchfor.io, based on the name you pick. Share that one clean, branded link with your customers; it keeps updating itself as incidents open and resolve.

The name in the URL field becomes the page's address.

What your customers see at that address.

## Why a short address matters

When something breaks, your customers want one place to check, and your support team wants one link to paste into every reply. A long URL that points somewhere inside another company's product is hard to remember and easy to get wrong. An address with your own name in it is the one people bookmark.

## How it works

- The name you type in the page's URL field becomes its address. A page named acme lives at acme.watchfor.io .

- A name is 3 to 50 lowercase letters, digits and dashes, and it has to be unique across WatchFor. Brand, system and abuse-prone names are reserved.

- The editor checks the name while you type, so you know it is free before you save.

- The page follows your monitors. When a monitor behind a component goes down, that component changes on the page, and it goes back to green when the monitor recovers.

## Example

Your checkout API starts returning errors at 14:02. By the time the first customer emails, acme.watchfor.io already shows the checkout component as down. Support answers every ticket with the same short link and gets back to work.

## Where to find it

Status pages → New status page , or open an existing page to see and change its URL. The [status pages guide](/docs/status-pages) covers components, visibility and branding.

Since then, WatchFor shows the address as watchfor.io/stats/yourname everywhere, and yourname.watchfor.io still opens the same page. See [the status page fixes from September](/changelog/2026-09-06-status-page-fixes).
