# Internal notes on incidents

The conversation about an incident usually happens somewhere the incident is not. You can now add private, team-only notes directly on an incident, with @mentions, pinning and reactions. They stay internal and never appear on a public status page.

A short investigation log, visible only to your team.

## What you can do

- Write notes as you investigate: findings, theories, links, next steps.

- @mention a teammate to pull them in. They get an email with the note and a link to the incident.

- Pin the note that matters most so it stays at the top.

- React with an emoji to agree, without adding another note.

- Edit or delete your own notes. Owners and admins can remove any note.

Notes read like a log: pinned first, then oldest to newest.

## Team-only

Notes are visible only to members of your organization. They never appear on a status page or in a notification. Adding, pinning and deleting notes is recorded in the activity log.

## Example

Jordan notes that the page comes back uncompressed from his laptop too. Priya adds that the edge belongs to the vendor, opens a ticket and pins her note. Whoever opens the incident next reads the whole story in a minute instead of scrolling a chat channel.

## Where to find it

On any incident page, next to the root cause analysis. Internal notes are a plan feature. See [Internal notes](/docs/alerting/internal-notes).
