# Public status pages

When something breaks, the support inbox fills up faster than you can answer it. You can now publish a branded status page: group your services into components, post incident updates, and share a live uptime heatmap and an RSS feed so people can check for themselves. Visibility is up to you: public, private, or password-protected.

What your visitors see, on today's page.

Visibility, auto-publish and components in the editor.

## What visitors see

- A banner: All systems operational , Some systems degraded or Major outage .

- Each component's state, with an uptime heatmap for the last 30 days. Visitors can page back through earlier months.

- Active incidents with their updates, and a history of past incidents, each with its own page.

- An RSS feed, so people can follow along without asking you.

## Less typing during an outage

Auto-publish incidents is on by default. When a monitor behind the page opens a confirmed incident, the page posts one and marks the component. When the incident resolves, the public one resolves too. Write your own updates (Investigating, Identified, Monitoring, Resolved) whenever you have more to say.

## Who can see it

Public, password-protected, or private, which hides the page from everyone.

## Example

Your API goes down at 10:12. Before the first support email arrives, the page already shows the API component as down with an open incident. At 10:20 you add "Identified: database failover in progress", and when the checks recover the page goes green by itself.

## How to start

Open Status pages in the sidebar and create one. It lives at watchfor.io/stats/yourname . See [Status pages](/docs/status-pages).

Since then, pages show [scheduled maintenance](/changelog/2026-08-10-maintenance-windows), got [their own address](/changelog/2026-07-10-status-page-subdomains), a [status badge and JSON feed](/changelog/2026-08-03-status-badge-embed), and private pages can be previewed by your team.
